Cute Kinder Kids!

I Love Teaching The Unit,
I Am Special!

Dear Reader,
It is so much FUN to watch Kinder Kids 
learn about their similarities and differences.
In centers we looked in a mirror 
to notice details about ourselves.
Then we made a self portrait.
We also decorated our names.

Later we tried to decide which portrait 
and name went with each Kinder Kid.
We had to look closely at details.
Finally we had all the matches made. 
We put the art work up to be wondered over 
and admired.

Later we made the pages into a book.

AWESOME APPS More On Letter School

I LoVE It When I Find A Great APP.

I have a FUN story about Letter School to share.

I showed this app to a friend on a Friday in May.

His kids 
(a 5 year old daughter

 and a 3 year old son)

 played with it until bedtime.

At 6:00 AM Saturday morning they were up 
asking dad 

if they could play Letter School on his iPad.

I LoVE It!

It is now Summer's End 
and my friend told me that his kids are
 doing great with their letters.

They still play Letter School.

They went camping this summer - no iPad.

The car was dusty from dirt roads.

So his son wrote letters on the dusty car.

Nothing like a little improvising!

His son will enter preschool knowing 
all his capital letters.

His daughter does handwriting homework 
without a fuss 

because it is easy.

Dad and the kids are happy.

Mom is too :)

AWESOME APPS LetterSchool

I LoVE tracing letters on the train track just to watch the train. LOL
Oh, and the Kiddos LoVE it too.
SO FUN!


I started with the FREE app but...
I LoVE this AWESOME APP so much that I even bought the app for my classroom iPods.
I have 4 wonderful iPods donated from 
Donor's Choose 
& Friends.

The word is out that I use my iPods 
in a center every day. 
The Kiddos LoVE them.
I decided I better start posting some of 
my favorite apps because
people want to know.

When I first introduced the iPods to the Kiddos 
I explained that I put an app on my iPhone first. 
That way I can check it out and decide 
if it will be used on the classroom iPods. 
Soon Kiddos were asking parents to add apps
 to their iPhones.  
They were practicing at home!

KINDER KIDS I SEE COLORS BOOK: I See Blue

What Colors Do You See?  

We made our own book the first week of Kindergarten!

FUN!

DEAR READER,

During centers each team made a page for our classroom book of COLORS!

First we played I Spy With My Little Eye Something That Is Blue.

We found many blue things.

Together we shared the pen and wrote 

I see blue.

We counted each word.

I held the pen and showed where we would start to write on the page.

Word I
One child knew the word I so she held the pen and wrote I.

Finger Space - I used my finger to show where the first finger space would be.

Word see
We stretched out the word see and listened for the sounds we could hear. 

We heard 2 sounds /s/ and /e/.

One child knew how to make an s 

and another child wrote the ee.

Finger Space - this time another child used their finger for the finger space 

between words.

Word blue
We stretched out the word blue 

and heard the /b/ sound first.

This word was pretty tricky. 

We used that /b/ clue to find the 

word blue on the blue marker.

Another child copied the word blue.

Period(.)
We needed to end our sentence with a period.   

I showed where it would go and 

another child made the dot for the period.

Everyone in the center group helped write.
When a new group came to the center 
they wrote about another color. 
We put all our pages together to make our 
I See Colors Book

and it was so much 

FUN!

Each Sunny Daz Kid in the center drew 

a picture of something that was blue.

My Sunny Daz Kids LOVED This Book!

We Made Our Own Story Book!

This book quickly became a classroom favorite!
You can start on day one.

Dear Reader,

Each SunnyDaz Kid got to pick 

their "best story" to put in our book.

As the year went along their writing improved!
They could trade a story when ever they wanted so they traded often.

The Story Book was exciting because they knew everyone would be reading it.

You can do it too!
It is EASY and FUN!
What you will need:
1 three ring binder
1 plastic sheet cover for each author
A Zillion authors 
(or how ever many you have)
