I LoVE to read this book on the first day of school to help calm and comfort all my students. I encourage them to share the story with their parents and share the secret of The Kissing Hand. The next day it is a joy to see moms, dads, grandmothers and loved ones kissing the hand of their little one and saying "I love you." I love these tender moments. The students help me tell the story again and we remember The Kissing Hand. Then we practice remembering our own parent's love with a hand presses to our cheeks. Even if we did not get a kiss we can remember the love. Through out the day I will see a child slip a hand to their cheek to comfort themselves and it makes my heart glad.
